Carboxytherapy Details
The procedure that is called a breakthrough in the beauty industry.
Carboxy Therapy is used for 70 years in medical practice and about 15 years inaesthetic medicine.
This is one of the treatment that does not require intervention in the body and at the same time
renews, revitalizes the skin, smooths wrinkles, brightens dark under-eye circles, improves facial
contours. Moreover, Carboxy Therapy is used to fight cellulite and fat deposits, rejuvenate the
affected area, arms and treats hair loss.
Carbon dioxide is a natural constituent of our very being. We breate in oxygen, and we exhale
carbon dioxide. Plants take up the carbon dioxide, and in turn give us the oxygen that we need.
There are no known risks associated with Carboxytherapy. Carbon dioxide injection has been safely
used for years to facilitate endoscopic surgeries of the abdomen.
How Carboxytherapy Works
In the tissue, carbon dioxide reacts with water molecules, and molecular carbonic acid is fromed.
This acid reduces the tissue pH. Here the Bohr Effect comes into play - the lower the pH, the weaker
the bond between hemoglobin and oxygen. While CO2 is being applied, the release of oxygen from hemoglobin
is increased. In addition, at the level of pH of 6.8 and less the permeability of capillary walls is increased.
At the pH of 6, 5, and less the flexibility of collagen fibers is increased, while their firmness is
decreased which increases the local blood supply by the opening of functionally closed capillaries
and by dilatation of pre-capillary segments that improves the oxygenation by increased release of
oxygen from hemoglobin (Bohr's effect-in lower pH and higher pCO2hemoglobin's affinity to oxygen is decreased).
Poor blood circulation is partially responsible for cellulite, stretch marks, dark under-eye circles and
many other problems. Cells in the body release carbon dioxide as waste. Red blood cells take the oxygen
you inhale and carry it to tissues, then pick up carbon diaoxide. Eventually, the carbon dioxide is exhaled
by the lungs. A doctor can increase blood circulation to a specific area by injecting carbon diaoxide,
causing the red blood cells to rush to the area. When the blood cells reach the location, they create an
increase in circulation. This works to repair skin elasticity and change pigment to a healty glow.
